Tracy waiting for a meeting with her counselor. Brooklyn, NY.

“I have to go to three state-mandated programs. I go to a relapse prevention program that deals with addictions. I’ve been clean for almost 25 years. It was cocaine and alcohol. I never picked it up while I was incarcerated. I could have, but I didn’t. That’s what caused me 24 years with the state. I also go to a group with just women to deal with stress. It’s called SISTER. I also have one-on-one counseling once a week to talk about what happened during the week. I like my individual counselor but all those programs is a lot of time. I feel most of it is a waste.”
