'French tuck'

Watch Brie Larson give Oprah an impromptu style tip backstage at Women in the World

You never know who you’ll run into backstage at a Women in the World summit.

After Captain Marvel star Brie Larson finished her talk at the summit on Wednesday night — a fascinating conversation with Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Radhika Jones — she happened to cross paths in the green room with Oprah Winfrey, who was getting ready to deliver the night’s keynote address, which, as you could probably guess, brought down the house.

Oprah noticed Brie’s outfit, a camel-colored sweater over a white collared shirt, all of it casually tucked into her ankle-length pleated gray skirt. She stopped the actor to tell her she loved her look, which included knee-high black boots. “Oh my god, you are your own ad,” said Oprah, her friend CBS News anchor Gayle King standing behind her. Brie told Oprah she got the idea for it from Tan France, the fashion expert on Netflix’s reboot of Queer Eye.

“It’s called a French Tuck,” said Brie. “Don’t you watch Queer Eye?”

“We know Tan,” Gayle assured Brie.

“We do know Tan,” confirmed Oprah, before marveling once again at the outfit. “You learn a few things!”

Later, both women posted a clip of the chance encounter on Twitter, each with their own take.
