Parker Curry, the little girl who became a viral sensation earlier this year after she was seen looking entranced by a portrait of first lady Michelle Obama at the National Portrait Gallery, is in the news once more — this time for her Halloween costume. Speaking to BuzzFeed, Curry’s mother, Jessica, recalled asking her daughter what she wanted to dress up as for the holiday.
“Flat out. No hesitation. Half of a second later: ‘I want to be Michelle Obama,’ and I was like, whoa,” said Jessica. “I thought she was going to be like, ‘I want to be Elsa’ or some other character like that.”
Initially, the mother was nonplussed as to how to make her daughter’s dream a reality. But then she remembered an offer from Alisha Walsh, the head of Magnolia Lake Children’s Clothing, to create Parker her own version of the dress from the first lady’s portrait. With just a week and a half until Halloween, Jessica asked Walsh if the offer was still on the table. Long story short — it was, and Parker was overjoyed.
“She walked in and she saw the dress and she was like, ‘Oh my gosh,’” said Jessica. “And I was like, ‘Do you like it?’ And she was like, ‘It’s perfect!’ Literally, those were her words: ‘It’s perfect!’”

Parker debuted the dress for trick-or-treating on Wednesday night, with her younger sister Ava serving as her adorable police escort.
“She twirled in it. She danced in it,’” the mother recalled. “Running up to the houses she would pick up the front of the gown so she wouldn’t get it dirty. It was so cute.”
“Parker talks about Michelle Obama every day,” she added. “She lets people know every day that she is the one who met Michelle Obama and she is friends with Michelle Obama.”
The first lady, who has previously met with Parker and tweeted a video of herself dancing with her young fan, also shared in the excitement.
“You nailed the look, Parker!” wrote Obama. “I love it!!!!”
