Sofia Vergara has been named the highest paid actor in television by Forbes for the third year in a row after the popular Modern Family star brought in $42.5 million in earnings this year. Vergara, who has reportedly been the highest paid actress in TV for the past seven years, outearned the highest paid male TV actor, The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons, by $16 million. Over the past three years, Vergara has grossed a humongous $127 million in earnings.
The Columbian-American star’s earning power reflects not only her high-profile role on a popular sitcom but a broader business savvy that her manager and longtime business partner, Luis Balaguer, said stemmed from the early days of her career, when she learned that she could make money through products and endorsements even when onscreen jobs were infrequent.
“Even now, our attention is on the people watching Modern Family and how to appeal to them outside of the show, too,” said Balaguer. “Our endorsement department is a well-oiled machine.”
According to Forbes, lucrative endorsements and licensing deals made up nearly half of Vergara’s earnings this year.
