‘Exciting news’

Amy Schumer makes surprise announcement in signature Amy Schumer style

By WITW Staff on October 23, 2018

Comedian Amy Schumer announced that she is pregnant on Monday — with a picture of herself and husband Chris Fischer’s faces photoshopped onto an image of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — an apparent reference to the Duchess of Sussex’s own pregnancy announcement last week. In an Instagram post, the straight-shooting comedian told followers to remember to vote in the upcoming midterm elections — which are just two weeks away — and that in the meantime she had some “exciting news” that she would share through the Instagram page of former CNN chief White house correspondent Jessica Yellin.

In a subsequent post, Yellin listed more than 20 politicians that Schumer recommended people vote for in the upcoming elections, along with a simple addendum — “I’m pregnant – Amy Schumer.”

Schumer, whose outspokenness and political activism has previously seen her targeted by alt-right trolls, was arrested earlier this month for protesting the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. In February, she announced her marriage to Fischer in similarly circumspect style — a photo of herself in a wedding address holding hands with her tuxedoed beau. The caption to the photo read only, “Yup.”
