Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi missed out on all of the excitement around Sex and the City during its run on HBO from 1998 to 2004. But she says she finally got around to watching the Emmy-winning show and was binging the entire series when she was struck with a sudden realization — women, and especially professional women, have a lot to gain from forming a true “sisterhood.”

“The sisterhood they had was fantastic. Why don’t we have a sisterhood?” asked Nooyi during a panel at the Forbes Women’s Summit in NYC on Tuesday where she appeared alongside Priyanka Chopra. “The more I [watched] that show I said, ‘Man, we have to have our own safe spot where we can talk about our issues. You can’t talk about it at home. No one wants to hear about work at home. We need an environment where sisterhood doesn’t judge us but gives us constructive feedback.”

Nooyi, who has long been considered one of the most powerful women in the world and has previously spoken at the Women in the World Summit in New York about the obstacles faced by women who hope to succeed in business, said that a support network of fellow women would make a huge difference in her life now — let alone back when she was just a young immigrant from a conservative family trying to claw her way up the corporate ladder.

“No one gave me dressing instructions. I worried about how I was perceived. I was the only woman in the room and I already looked different,” she recalled.

“Let’s put ourselves in charge,” she continued. “That sisterhood needs to form. And when we get there, I think there’s no stopping us.”
