Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is now working as President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, went on a wild rant Wednesday in Israel in which he claimed that adult film stars such as Stormy Daniels deserve no “respect,” have no “credibility” or even a “reputation” to defame. The remarks sparked considerable backlash for being sexist and degrading and led Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC’s Morning Joe to fire back at Giuliani with few choice words of her own.
Speaking at the “Globes” Capital Market conference in Tel Aviv, Giuliani said, “I’m sorry I don’t respect a porn star the way I respect a career woman or a woman of substance or a woman who has great respect for herself as a woman and as a person and isn’t going to sell her body for sexual exploitation … the business you’re in entitles you to no degree of giving your credibility any weight. And secondly, explain to me how she could be damaged. I mean, she has no reputation. If you’re going to sell your body for money, you just don’t have a reputation. Maybe old-fashioned, I don’t know.”
On Thursday, Brzezinski took Giuliani to task for his comments, calling him a “disgusting man” and noting that his words would only embolden “Stormy Daniels and potentially any other woman who may have evidence against this president.”
“You misogynistic fool. Are you kidding me? Just look at Stormy Daniels?” asked Brzezinski, referring to Giuliani’s claim that one only has to see Stormy Daniels to understand that she is unworthy of being believed. “Just look at yourself. Are you kidding me? At this moment where we are in history with women, you are going to tell us to just look at her? Are you out of your mind? You know what, that’s your only excuse, and I feel really sorry for you.”
“He was incredibly degrading,” she continued. “On top of the fact that you are hurting the president’s case on so many levels, so good on you, keep going, Rudy. I’m absolutely sickened about what I just saw.”
Daniels has been a consistent thorn in Trump’s side since she sued him in an attempt to get out of a non-disclosure agreement she signed just ahead of the 2016 election to prevent her from speaking publicly about a purported affair the two had. In April, it was revealed that the lawyer who represented Daniels during the “hush agreement” negotiations, Keith M. Davidson, had secretly been communicating with Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, while negotiating a separate non-disclosure agreement with former Playboy playmate Karen McDougal, who also said she had an affair with Trump. Following that revelation, McDougal was subsequently released from the non-disclosure agreement. Cohen, who initially claimed he had paid Daniels $130,000 out of his own pocket — only for Guiliani to later reveal that Trump had actually reimbursed Cohen — is now also being sued by Daniels for allegedly colluding with Davidson during her own settlement.
