And you think it’s been a cold winter where you live … Sure there may be snow on the ground in all 50 states right now, but no matter where you are, you can probably safely assume that when you walk out of the house your eyelashes won’t freeze over. Unless you live in Yakutsk, Russia, where the temperature plunged to minus-58 degrees Fahrenheit this week, according to reports, and a simple walk to work results in a dramatic case of ice lash.
That’s just what happened to Anastasia Gruzdeva, who posted a photo on Instagram showing her frosted eye lashes. The pic has racked up more than 50,000 likes since she posted it on Sunday and another one alongside her friends.
“You all know that we have -50 degrees here, right? And yes, we still get out of the house … it’s kind of hot actually,” Gruzdeva, 24, says at the beginning of her post. She goes on to say that her eyelashes froze over during her walk to work, which takes about 15-20 minutes. She also notes that she didn’t do anything special to enhance the effect that developed — she says it was a totally natural effect just from being out in the brutal cold.
