There are probably scores of people who would like to slap Harvey Weinstein in the face, and now at least one person has done it — and it was caught on video and delivered to the world by TMZ. Not saying we endorse vigilante violence, but the slaps to the face the disgraced Hollywood mogul takes in the video are more symbolic than they are physically punishing. It all happened, The Hollywood Reporter notes, at Elements restaurant, which is a part of the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. An unidentified man is seen in the video approaching Weinstein and slapping him on his left cheek twice with the back of his hand while hurling profanities at him. Weinstein did not seem injured by the attack. Meanwhile, other diners in the dimly lit restaurant hardly seemed fazed by the fracas.
Weinstein, of course, has been accused of a range of sexual misconduct by dozens of women. He’s been reportedly hanging out in Arizona receiving therapy and, through representatives, denying allegations of sexual wrongdoing. In this case, however, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a representative for Weinstein said of the video clip: “The TMZ report is accurate.”
We think the only surprise here is that one of these tapes hasn’t surfaced sooner. Watch the 47-second clip below.
