Anthony Bourdain condemns Quentin Tarantino for ‘complicity and shame’ over Weinstein allegations

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain had some harsh words for director Quentin Tarantino at a Producers Guild of America conference in New York.

Bourdain and his producing partner Lydia Tenaglia revealed that before their show, Parts Unknown, landed on CNN, an unnamed media mogul presented them with a lucrative offer. They declined to take it, however, because they decided that working with this person would violate their “no asshole policy,” Deadline reports.

Accepting the offer, Bourdain said “would have eaten us alive. It would have destroyed everything – everything that makes us good, everything that makes us happy, our quality of life. It would have been a lethal compromise, a slow-acting poison that would have eaten away our souls until we ended up like Quentin Tarantino, living a life of complicity and shame and compromise.”

The celebrity chef was referring to a recent New York Times article, in which Tarantino said that he had knowledge about Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct towards women, but did nothing to stop it.

“I knew enough to do more than I did,” Tarantino said “There was more to it than just the normal rumors, the normal gossip. It wasn’t secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things.”

“I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard,” he added.

Bourdain is dating Italian actress and director Asia Argento, who has come forward recently to say that she was raped by Weinstein. On Twitter, Argento expressed support for her partner’s comments about Tarantino. “One might think we all need to slam Tarantino’s complicity with Harvey Weinstein,” she wrote.
