Controversial fashion show featuring young girls walking runway wearing lingerie draws criticism

A series of photos from a “Victoria’s Secret-style” fashion show at a shopping mall in Chengdu City, in the Chinese province of Sichuan, have sparked outrage over their highly troubling choice of models. The pictures show girls possibly as young as 5 walking the runway wearing nothing but lingerie, costume wings similar to those worn by Victoria’s Secret models, and headpieces while adults in the audience snap photos. Very little is known about the fashion show — or what the organizers were thinking — but observers said it crosses the line of what’s acceptable and echoes a controversy last month in which people criticized Kim Kardashian’s latest fashion line for children, which featured, among other things, a bikini and lace slip dress for young girls.
