On Sunday, Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot took a moment while signing autographs at Comic-Con to comfort an emotional young fan. Dressed as Wonder Woman, the young girl approached the table where all the cast members of the upcoming Justice League film were seated, wiping tears from her eyes before cautiously approaching Gadot. Leaning across the table, Gadot held the girl’s hand and spoke to her at length to help cheer her up.
“There’s no reason to cry, all right,” Gadot can be heard saying through the din of the convention. “Here we are together.”
There interaction was caught on camera and posted to Twitter by Variety later in the day and has gone viral.
The video — which lasts almost a minute — also shows fellow Justice Leaguer Ezra Miller who can be heard echoing Gadot’s sentiments, telling the young fan she is a ‘warrior’ and to ‘come join the Justice League’ whenever she feels ready. The young girl is named Ashley, HuffPost reported, and after the encounter, her mother, Christine Keller, wrote on Twitter that Ashley was so happy to be meeting Gadot that she began to cry.
Keller elaborated in a Facebook post, saying, “These characters matter and can have a huge influence on young people. What a great role model and genuine, nice person. My daughter will always remember this moment for the rest of her life. Thank you, Gal Gadot! ”
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. confirmed that there will be a sequel to the smash summer hit, but has been rather tight-lipped about much beyond that the sequel is a go. At Comic-Con, the movie studio flashed a title card with the words reading “Wonder Woman II” on the screen during its display on Saturday, The Associated Press reported. No further details have been released, but it’s a smart move given how the film resonated with audiences. With a box office haul of $398 million, Wonder Woman stands tall as the highest-grossing film of the summer.
In the meantime, if you need a quick fix of Wonder Woman and her super friends, check out the new Comic-Con teaser trailer for the Justice League, which features a brief glimpse back into the world of the Amazons.
