Carleigh Corbitt made her big entrance into the world weighing more than initially expected. The fourth child born to parents Chrissy and Larry Corbitt, baby Carleigh shocked everyone when the scales announced she weighed 13 pounds, 5 ounces — a birth weight that shattered the record for largest baby girl born in Florida’s Clay county.
“We had everything covered as far as newborn clothes … but the nurse was like, ‘Well, newborns aren’t going to work,’” Larry Corbitt explained in an interview with USA Today. While doctors had placed initial estimates for the baby’s weight at around 11 pounds, Carleigh’s chart-topping weight puts her just two ounces behind the record for the largest boy.
Carleigh’s father, who says the couple do not plan to have any more children, is adamant baby Carleigh looks more like a 6-month-old toddler than a newborn. “My wife said it best when she said we’re going out with a bang.”
