Adventures in prom

For her senior prom, 17-year-old brought a unique date

May 2, 2017

Priscilla Samey, a 17-year-old from Minnesota did not find a date for her senior prom, but she couldn’t care less — she had something way better lined up. “Couldn’t find a man to accept me for prom so I took a college that did #Harvard2021 #prom2k17,” she tweeted on Saturday, alongside a photo of herself with her Harvard University acceptance letter.  Besides landing a full scholarship to Harvard, the daughter of Togolese immigrants was also accepted at six other Ivy League universities, which sparked the “date” idea with her sister. “She said, ‘The best one [date] is all your college admissions,'” Samey said.

She decided to take her sister’s advice, which saved her a lot of money. “I took a date that was pretty low maintenance, so I didn’t have to pay for his dinner,” she explained. Samey said she only received positive and supportive feedback, saying all her classmates thought it was “so funny and cute.” The teen will be majoring in political science at Harvard, with a pre-law track, which she hopes will eventually land her a career in business law.
