TV news anchor has perfect response when tabloid mocks her for wearing same blouse on the air more than once

April 13, 2017

Wilkinson took it all in good jest, however, responding with a tweet that read, “I am sooo busted! Seems I’ve been seen hosting breakfast TV wearing same blouse with ‘strategic cutout above the bust’ just 4 months apart!!!” The next day, she even dared to wear the same shirt on air again. “I did something incredibly brave today,” she wrote in an essay for The Huffington Post, explaining her choice. “That’s right: same outfit, consecutive days. On national TV.” She went on to make fun of the Daily Mail and their “dastardly, eagle-eyed investigative team” for focusing on something as superficial and unimportant while there’s so much else going on in the world — and teaching them a much needed lesson in sexism and double standards. “Today I am thanking The Daily Mail,” she wrote, “for proving once and for all what we know to be true. You see, I’m the gal that sits next to the guy who wore exactly the same suit on air every weekday for a whole year. Every single day. And no one noticed. But let a woman try that on … twice? Not on your Nelly!”
