Fashion editors share images of Tiffany Trump sitting alone at New York Fashion Week

February 17, 2017

Anti-Trump sentiment appeared to spill over into what some perceived as a minor bullying episode this week at New York Fashion Week, when Tiffany Trump was reportedly left sitting by herself at the Philipp Plein show. Nikki Ogunnaike, senior fashion editor at Elle magazine, tweeted that the show had started late because editors were “fleeing” having to sit next to Donald Trump’s daughter. Christina Binkley, a former Wall Street Journal columnist, also tweeted photos of the 23-year-old first daughter sitting by herself. “Nobody wants to sit next to Tiffany Trump,” she wrote.

On Wednesday’s episode of The View, comedian Whoopi Goldberg — who is also known for her dislike of the new president — jumped to the defense of the recent University of Pennsylvania graduate.

“You know what, Tiffany, I’m supposed to go to a couple more shows. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m coming to sit with you,” said Goldberg. “Because nobody’s talking politics. You’re looking at fashion! She doesn’t want to talk about her dad! She’s looking at the fashion!”

Later that day, Tiffany accepted Goldberg’s offer via Twitter.

Binkley has since backtracked on her seemingly mean-spirited tweet, saying that the executives from Phillip Plein had asked the people sitting next to Tiffany to clear the seats for Plein’s family members.
