In 1st on-camera remarks since conceding election, Hillary Clinton declares ‘the future is female’

February 7, 2017

“Never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world.”

In a video clip recorded for the 2017 MAKERS conference, Hillary Clinton echoed her 2016 concession speech, urging young girls to be bold, step up and speak out. “You are the heroes and history makers, the glass ceiling breakers of the future”.

MAKERS is a storytelling platform for inspiring women and its annual conference is taking place this week at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Clinton’s message was broadcast on the conference’s opening night Monday evening and emphasized this year’s conference message: #BEBOLD. “Despite all the challenges we face,” she said, “I remain convinced that yes, the future is female.”

Although Clinton lost the presidential election, she has a busy year ahead of her as she begins work on her new — and as yet unnamed — book, which will reflect on the 2016 election, and resumes her relationship with the Harry Walker Agency, the speakers bureau through whom she has previously organized her paid speeches. She will return to her former college, Wellesley College, in the spring to give the annual commencement address. Watch a clip of Clinton’s message below.
