By WITW Staff on January 18, 2017

On Sunday, a 12-year-old girl was admitted to a hospital in Patna, India, after allegedly being gang-raped by a principal and three teachers on the roof of a school building. According to a Sub-Divisional police officer, the girl was spotted lying on the roof in a “disheveled” state by her mother — who is also a teacher at the same school. The victim was admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital in critical condition due to excessive bleeding, according to The Indian Express.

The victim’s mother has said that her daughter suffered from mental disabilities, and that since her husband left she had been forced to bring her daughter with her to school. She added that while she does intend to pursue legal action against the state education department, that the safety of her daughter was taking priority. Police have said that they have not yet found the four men, and that they are believed to have absconded.
