An awkward moment unfolded on Wednesday at The Hollywood Reporter’s annual Women in Entertainment breakfast while Megyn Kelly was onstage speaking. The Fox News anchor, who has had a rocky relationship with President-elect Donald Trump over the last 18 months, revealed to the room full of powerful women that she has “high hopes” for his presidency and that “despite the tweets and all the rest of it, there is much to admire about Donald Trump.”
Upon delivering that remark, a cascade of boos emanated from the audience. Perhaps loudest and longest among them came from one particular heckler, whom Kelly pointed out was comedian Kathy Griffin, as she deviated from her prepared remarks. Griffin reportedly gave Kelly the finger as well. Later, Griffin posted a video highlight of the moment on Twitter along with the message, “Wellll, I just HAD to boo the mention of Prez d bag. Middle finger up!” Watch the clip below.

Kelly tried to diffuse the situation with a little joke, saying noted Trump loyalist Omarosa Manigault, of Apprentice fame, who was also in the audience, would “hurt” Griffin and anyone else who continued booing, and then continued with the rest of her speech. In her memoir, which hit store shelves last month, Kelly detailed some of the behind-the-scenes run-ins, several of them unsettling, she had with Trump and those in his orbit during the course of what turned out to be a roller-coaster relationship during the presidential race.
Kelly also appeared onstage at the Women in the World New York Summit back in April, where she was interviewed by Katie Couric. Watch the complete discussion below.
