Did Taylor Swift make a subtle political endorsement with this photo?

By WITW Staff on November 8, 2016

Taylor Swift, who unlike many of her contemporaries in the music business had been curiously quiet throughout the 2016 presidential campaign, got political at the very last minute on Tuesday by posting a photo of herself on Instagram in line at a voting station. She captioned the snap of herself with, “Today is the day. Go out and VOTE ????????.”

While the pop superstar has not endorsed Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, her silence has only piqued and tantalized the interest of her fans who according to Google Trends, is the person people want to know who is voting for more than any other person.

At a glance, it looked like Swift was still staying on the endorsement sideline. But perhaps Swift told everyone exactly who she voted for — not with words, but with her outfit. Racked reported that Swift’s off-the-shoulder look is actually a nod to the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton. The shoulder-less top is apparently a reference to an Instagram post by Lena Dunham who just days ago posted a photo composite of herself and Hillary wearing the same shoulder-less style sweater with a caption endorsing Clinton.

Could Swift be quietly endorsing Hillary without upsetting her Trump fans?
