Lady Gaga criticizes Melania Trump for ‘hypocrisy’ over campaign speech

By WITW Staff on November 7, 2016

If Lady Gaga has a ‘Poker Face,’ she’s sure not deploying it as the election approaches. The singer took to Twitter on Sunday to take a shot at Melania Trump after she delivered a campaign speech in Pennsylvania last week during which she denounced cyberbullying and vowed to make combating it her central issue as first lady if her husband is elected president.

Melania Trump had come under fire when a host of critics and observers pointed out that her husband has routinely used Twitter to insult and bully adversaries. That’s exactly the issue Lady Gaga took with Melania Trump, saying that her promise to “stand for ‘anti-bullying’ is hypocrisy” because Donald Trump is “1 of the most notorious bullies we have ever witnessed.”

Earlier on Sunday, Lady Gaga, a noted Clinton supporter, said it was urgent for Americans to vote for Clinton and prevent Trump from reaching the Oval Office.

Melania Trump has not responded to Lady Gaga’s tweet as of this writing. Lady Gaga and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, in 2012 founded the Born This Way Foundation, which aims to “create a kinder and braver world” for children.
