George W. Bush may be planning to vote for Clinton, family member suggests

At a small Republican rally in San Marcos, Texas, on Tuesday night, George P. Bush said that former presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush, his uncle and grandfather respectively, might “potentially” vote for Hillary Clinton on election day. Both former presidents have been silent on Trump, and while neither has openly supported Clinton, George H.W. Bush has reportedly been said to be planning to vote for the Democratic nominee. Asked by the AP to clarify his comments, George P. Bush said that he was “speculating” and couldn’t be certain of how they’d vote.

With former president George W. Bush’s purported addition to Clinton’s camp, it appears that much of the Bush family might be voting Democratic this year. Barbara Bush, the daughter of former President George W. Bush, is also thought to be considering voting for Clinton after being spotted at a Hillary Clinton fundraiser. Comments made by former first lady Laura Bush at the Women in the World New York Summit back in April suggested that she too would cast her vote for Clinton. The trend is not just limited to the Bush family. Many conservative leaning newspapers have gone on record with Clinton endorsements this year, in some cases breaking with more than a century of tradition in backing the Republican candidate.
