With just eight days to go until U.S. voters choose the next president and polls showing a tightening race after a controversial move by the FBI director, the polarized nature of the electorate is really beginning to show. As evidence, please consider this video posted to Twitter on Friday by a user named Kenny that is now burning up the internet. “JUST TOLD MY MOM IM NOT VOTING FOR HILLARY CLINTON AND THIS HAPPENED ????????????”
“If I don’t vote for Hillary (Clinton) what’ll happen?” Kenny asks his mom.
“There’s going to be a little problem in this house. I’ll seize your phone, I’ll seize the car,” she threatens. When Kenny suggested he might vote for Gary Johnson, his mom scolded him and warned him not to vote for “a stupid man” who’s not aware of what Aleppo, the city besieged in war-torn Syria, is.
“You have to carry out the civic duties of being an American,” she continues. “Don’t act like you’re a moron.” Watch the full video below. It’s racked up more than 57,000 retweets since it was posted and more than 86,000 likes.
In subsequent posts, Kenny revealed that he is in fact voting for Hillary — he was just messing with his mom. But his mom wasn’t messing around and her response has won her fans all over the internet praising her parenting skills and sense of duty. Nancy Lee Grahn, an actress who plays Alexis Davis on ABC’s General Hospital summed it up rather succinctly by saying in a post on Twitter that “Kenny’s mom is an American Goddess.” And she wasn’t the only celebrity whose attention Kenny’s mom caught.
