'Fat ugly face'

Clinton campaign features Trump’s disparaging comments towards women in new ad

By WITW Staff on September 23, 2016

The Clinton campaign is set to begin airing a new ad that combines footage of Donald Trump insulting women’s physical features alongside shots of young girls looking at themselves in the mirror. The ad, entitled “Mirrors,” features Trump’s 2006 comment about Rosie O’Donnell, in which he said, “I’d look her right in that fat ugly face of hers. She’s a slob.”

Also included in the ad was Trump’s analysis of the features of actress Nicollette Sheridan: “A person who is flat chested is very hard to be a 10,” Trump declared. Trump’s less than flattering appraisal of Kim Kardashian, who recently said she might consider voting for Trump after talking with Caitlyn Jenner, also made the cut. “Does she have a good body, no,” said Trump of his fellow reality TV star. “Does she have a fat (expletive)? Absolutely.”

As these comments play, the ad showed young women looking themselves in the mirror, appearing to evaluate whether or not their bodies would meet with the Republican nominee’s approval. The ad ends with a black slate, and a question: “Is this the president we want for our daughters?”

The ad is scheduled to air in Ohio, New Hampshire, Iowa, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and on national cable, according to the Clinton campaign. Clinton has consistently drawn attention to Trump’s less than stellar record on women’s issues.

“Anyone who wants to defund Planned Parenthood and wipe out safe, legal abortion has no idea what’s best for women,” Clinton said at Planned Parenthood event in June. “And after all, this is a man who has called women ‘pigs,’ ‘dogs,’ and ‘disgusting animals.’ Kind of hard to imagine counting on him to respect our fundamental rights.”
