Tierney Ewing, a 48-year-old Pennsylvania woman was found shot dead in a barn after her abusive husband, who had recently been freed from jail, abducted her again. The 47-year old-man, Kevin Ewing, who was jailed for holding his wife hostage for two weeks this June, was found alongside her with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and taken to the hospital, police said. Ewing had previously told police how he had assaulted his wife, beating and pistol-whipping her and burning her with a piece of hot metal. She was able to escape when he sent he to the bank to get money. Ewing was then arrested and charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and unlawful restraint.
“He threatened her all the time, and he beat her up several times,” the victim’s father told The Associated Press, adding that she was “scared to death” of him. Despite the prosecutor asking to keep Ewing locked up, the judge ordered electronically monitored house arrest and released him on July 11, after he was able to post $100,000 bail. On Tuesday, police said, he cut off his electronic ankle bracelet and went to abduct and murder his wife, according to the AP. He has since been charged with kidnapping, terroristic threats, weapons charges and other crimes, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
