'He's broken'

Weiner thought marriage was doomed, text messages show

A day after publishing a bombshell report on Anthony Weiner’s ongoing sexting habit, which resulted in Huma Abedin announcing in a statement that she intended to leave him, the Post published more text messages that the disgraced former politician appears to have exchanged with a woman the Post is vaguely describing as “a 40-something divorcee.” During their very first exchange, back in January 2015, Weiner, 51, inquired about the woman’s relationship status.

“Divorced after 16 years,” she replied.

“I kinda envy that path now that I have a 3 yr old and a busted marriage,” Weiner said.

Nearly 11 months later, the woman, an avowed Donald Trump supporter, probed Weiner about whether he’d move to Washington, D.C., with Abedin if Hillary Clinton wins the election in November. “That is a very big Q. Honestly don’t know what she will do,” Weiner told her. He added, “I doubt I am under any circumstances” moving to the nation’s capital with her.

In her original remarks to the Post, the woman speculated on Weiner’s mental health, suggesting that he’s not well. “I’m not a psychologist,” she said. “I can’t say how to fix him. I don’t know if divorce or salvaging his marriage would fix him. But he’s broken.”
