"Arrest of the year"

Swedish cop wearing a bikini takes down pickpocket in park

By WITW Staff on July 29, 2016

In Stockholm, an off-duty cop made what the internet is calling the “arrest of the year” after she chased and took down a pickpocket, all while sporting a bikini. Police officer Mikaela Kellner was sunbathing with friends in Rålambshovsparken, a popular Stockholm park, when a man approached her group selling magazines. After he left, however, Kellner’s friends realized that her phone was missing. The off-duty cop swiftly took off in pursuit, pinning the criminal down into the grass as her friends watched. After the fact, Kellner posted a photo to Instagram of herself apprehending the thief, noting in the caption that it was her “first intervention while wearing a bikini during [her] 11 years as a police officer.”

Speaking to the Local, Keller said that while the scene must have “looked pretty funny” to observers, she wasn’t going to let how she was dressed get in the way of her job. “I just acted on instinct and didn’t think about it so much until after we had pinned him down,” she explained. ” … I would have stepped in no matter my outfit.”
