A French woman and her three daughters were attacked by a man with a knife at a resort in the Alps on Tuesday, leaving an 8-year-old girl fighting for her life with a punctured lung. The girl’s sisters, ages 12 and 14, and their 46-year-old mother were also injured, but are expected to recover.
According to The Telegraph, the man and his own family, including his pregnant wife and two children, were staying next to the woman’s family at a chalet near Laragne. The man attacked the three daughters who were standing on their terrace before going inside and stabbing the mother in the chest.
Initial reports alleged the man had made comments about the family’s “scantily-dressed” appearances, but a prosecutor in Gap, France, called it a rumor and said it was untrue. The man was born in Morocco and has a lengthy criminal record of petty crimes.
