Her big day

Bride kicks off heels to perform CPR for woman without a pulse on a park bench

A bride still wearing her wedding gown after marrying her husband kicked off her high heels and revived a woman who was found unconscious on a Pittsburgh bench. Julie Stroyne was walking from her wedding reception with her husband past the Westin Convention Center in Pittsburgh on Saturday when she saw the woman, who appeared to be in her early 20s, on the bench. A bystander told the bridal party that the woman didn’t seem to have a pulse.

Stroyne, a trauma nurse, got down on her knees and began performing CPR, her sister Kaitlyn Stroyne told The Washington County Observer-Reporter.

“Everyone around us was saying, ‘The bride saved the day,’” Kaitlyn Stroyne said.

“That’s something I’ll never forget,” Julie Stroyne said. “There’s no time off.”

Paramedics arrived and took the woman to a hospital, the women said. The newlyweds were a local couple that had graduated from Peters Township High School in Pennsylvania two years apart, according to the report.
