A 19-year-old woman in Toulouse, a city in the southern France, was able to stop a man who tried to sexually assault her by biting off his tongue. Authorities said the 24-year-old attacker followed the woman into her apartment building and cornered her in the elevator where he then demanded to have sex and started “violently pulling her blouse” and other clothing, according to local newspaper La Dépêche du Midi. She eventually allowed the man to kiss her, at which point she was able to bite his tongue in two, a move that quickly sent him running away. When emergency services arrived on the scene a little while later, they found the attacker’s blood and part of his tongue at the scene. Officials reportedly tracked him down by alerting nearby hospitals and were able to take the man into custody, matching his DNA to the blood found at the scene and charging him with rape. The man’s explanation that he had been “led on” by the woman did not sway the judge who ordered the suspect to be jailed on rape charges.
