Donald Trump, in a sanguine moment, said in an interview last week that he was fine with transgender people using whatever bathroom they wanted. “There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go. They use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate,” he said during an NBC town hall. “There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic — I mean, the economic punishment that they’re taking.”
So when Matt Lauer went on to ask him whether that means that Caitlyn Jenner would be allowed to use whatever bathroom she wanted, he concurred — so Jenner decided to take him up on the offer, and documented it in a Facebook video. “Oh my God, a trans woman in New York,” she says in a video published Wednesday, showing her at the Trump International Hotel. “OK, last week, Donald Trump said I could take a pee anywhere in a Trump facility, so I am gonna go take a pee in the ladies’ room.”
Jenner walks into Trump Tower, asks for directions to the restroom and bypasses the men’s bathroom en route to the women’s restroom. As she later leaves the bathroom, she takes a little shot at Ted Cruz, saying: “Thank you, Donald. I really appreciate it, and by the way, Ted, nobody got molested.”
