Picture this: Two sweethearts of the arts world together on one couch, having a blast. Emma Watson and Lin-Manuel Miranda made that dream come true this week in a video for HeForShe, the United Nations gender equality initiative for which Watson serves as face.
In the short video, she asks the playwright if he’s a feminist — of course he is — and the pair charmingly crack up at Watson’s self-admittedly awful beatboxing. (“English school kids, that’s what we do all the time,” Watson jokes.) Miranda, whose smash hit musical Hamilton made a old white American patriarch popular again, freestyles over her beats: “Women are half of all people on earth, and we should’ve been equal since birth.” Ain’t that the truth.
