Women invited to audition for Washington, Burr roles in blockbuster musical “Hamilton”

According to a Backstage casting call, Hamilton’s upcoming Broadway productions in Philadelphia are looking for both men and women to play the roles of George Washington and Aaron Burr. While the creator of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, admitted in a talk at the Smithsonian that it would be challenging to change the vocal keys to accommodate a female voice, he maintained that he was “totally open” to casting females for the roles. Actors Leslie Odom, Jr. and Christopher Jackson are currently playing the roles of Burr and Washington. Miranda, nonetheless, is excited by the possibility of someday seeing women Jeffersons and women Hamiltons perform.
