In an interview with Advocate, Caitlyn Jenner revealed that her favorite candidate running for president right now is Ted Cruz — saying she would love to be his “trans ambassador”, if he would end up winning the presidency. “I like Ted Cruz,” she told interviewer Dawn Ennis. “I think he’s very conservative and a great constitutionalist and a very articulate man. I haven’t endorsed him or anything like that. But I also think, he’s an evangelical Christian, and probably one of the worst ones when it comes to trans issues.”
Ted Cruz, as USA Today points out, strongly opposes gender-neutral bathrooms for trans people, calling them “lunacy”, wants to block the military’s efforts to include transgender soldiers and has called same-sex marriage “fundamentally illegitimate, lawless, and unconstitutional”. While acknowledging that Democrats are “better on social issues”, Jenner said she was supporting the GOP for economic reasons, saying: “Number 1, if we don’t have a country, we don’t have trans issues. We need jobs. We need a vibrant economy. I want every trans person to have a job. With $19 trillion in debt and it keeps going up, we’re spending money we don’t have.” She also told Ennis that she had met the Texas senator before her transition, and that he was “very nice”. If he ends up winning in November, Jenner said she would love to be his “trans ambassador” — so she could say “‘Ted, love what you’re doing but here’s what’s going on.’”
While the Cruz campaign has yet to comment on Jenner’s quasi-endorsement, many social media users were quick to condemn her comments:
Please stop. You're hurting us.

Caitlyn Jenner is a hero to all lgbt Americans who'd like Ted Cruz to take away their right to marry.
