Sports Illustrated announces Ashley Graham will be featured in swimsuit issue

By WITW Staff on February 9, 2016

Model and body activist Ashley Graham is building on last year’s historic success. On Tuesday, she revealed that she’ll be appearing in the 2016 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Graham appeared in an ad that ran in last year’s issue, the first time a plus-size model had done so. The 2015 issue was significant because it was the first in the magazine’s history to include a plus-size model, Robyn Lawley, among its swimsuit pages.

In a post on Instagram that featured a photo from the SI shoot, Graham, 28, described the experience as “a dream come true.” She went on to thank her fans, saying, “Thank you to everyone who stood up for curves — our voices were heard and together we can help me win Rookie of the Year.” Graham will also be appearing in an ad campaign for Lane Bryant, dubbed #ThisBody, which calls on women to challenge social norms around beauty.
