At a Donald Trump rally in Pensacola, Florida, on Wednesday night, three young girls known as the USA Freedom Kids belted out a pro-Trump ditty, “Freedom’s Call,” that asks America to reject “cowardice” and embrace Trump. The song was originally about General George S. Patton, but the USA Freedom Kids’ manager, and father of one of the girls, Jeff Popick, modified it to extol his idol, Trump.
The fiercely patriotic lyrics, performed by young girls clad in sparkling stars and stripes outfits, evoked disturbing comparisons for some to similar performances held in honor of nationalist leaders such as Vladimir Putin or North Korea’s Dear Leader. The crowd at the rally, however, seemed to enjoy it, and enthusiastically clapped along.
