A nonprofit cleaning service in Texas has been making its client-base very happy by offering women suffering with cancer throughout the U.S. and Canada free home cleanings. Fittingly, the name of the company is Cleaning for a Reason. It’s founder, Debbie Sardone says she came up with the idea for the service about a decade ago while working for a cleaning service, after a client who was battling cancer told her she could no longer afford to pay for the home cleanings. Since 2006, its website says, the company has cleaned homes for more than 19,500 women — a value of $5.5 million in services. Sardone says she’s recruited some 1,200 maid services over that time to donate free housecleaning to women battling cancer. Naturally, Cleaning for a Reason’s Facebook page is flooded with grateful comments from women all over, like this one: “I had a mastectomy, and I can’t do much with my right arm. I also get sick with the chemotherapy. Just having someone clean my bathrooms and scrub the kitchen and dining room tile floors is a blessing. This is a wonderful service and I’m so glad I found it.”
