Planned Parenthood endorses Hillary Clinton in 2016 race

By WITW Staff on January 7, 2016

Planned Parenthood announced on Wednesday that it’s endorsing Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race because she’s the “nation’s best presidential candidate for reproductive rights, hands down.” In a statement, the organization elaborated on why it’s backing the Democratic frontrunner, saying she “has been a proactive leader on expanding access to women’s health care.” Planned Parenthood cited three primary points about Clinton — legislation she’s introduced aimed at protecting reproductive rights, her outspokenness on the issued and her testimony before Congress about abortion being essential to reproductive health care — that make her the best candidate on women’s health issues. Planned Parenthood posted the following graphic on Twitter heralding the news.

Also on Twitter, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York posted her support for the endorsement and lauded Clinton’s commitment to fighting for government mandated paid leave of no less than 12 weeks.
