Jennifer Lawrence isn’t pulling any punches, from the pay gap to Planned Parenthood

In a “no filter” cover interview with Glamour magazine, Jennifer Lawrence has joked about her personal style (“slutty power lesbian”), explained why she spoke up about fair pay and also opened up about using Planned Parenthood services.

Although “it’s not smart, businesswise, to be opinionated,” in Hollywood, Lawrence said, she just couldn’t stay quiet about the gender pay gap — and, specifically, how she got in her own way while negotiating her fee. But being in a position to be ” successful woman who has not had a[n unplanned] pregnancy,” as she pointed out while discussing the fatal shooting at a Colorado clinic in November, is due in no small part to the services of Planned Parenthood. “My mom was really religious with me when I was young. She’s not so much anymore. And I wouldn’t have been able to get birth control if it weren’t for Planned P. I wouldn’t have been able to get condoms and birth control and all these things I needed as a normal teenager who was growing up in a Jesus house,” she said. “What harm comes from supplying people with birth control, condoms, Pap smears, and cancer screenings?”
