What a year for stylish women! Teen Vogue’s round up of 14 stylish moments from black women this year includes Janet Jackson’s return, Nina Simone’s new audience, and that Apple commercial with all of the year’s favorites: Kerry Washington, Mary J. Blige, and Taraji P. Henson. There were plenty of young influencers on the list, including Zendaya’s red carpet moment that inspired a Barbie doll (as did Ava DuVernay) and the littlest cutie, Riley Curry. Our favorite is the stunning Viola Davis, who this year became the first black woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, in a Carmen Marc Valvo gown. Taraji P. Henson, who portrayed the stylish, powerful Cookie Lyons famous on Empire, is also included.
