Supermodel Bar Refaeli, along with her mother, is under investigation in Israel for tax evasion. Israeli authorities questioned her for more than twelve hours over suspicions she failed to report discounts on luxury goods and other perks on her tax filings. Among other things, she is accused of not disclosing the fact that she did not pay rent for her apartment in Tel Aviv, paid for an interior designer with “publicity” for his business, and receiving luxury cars in return for modeling deals. She was questioned by Israeli authorities for 12 hours, before being released by a court on Thursday on a $193,000 bail. She is now only allowed to leave Israel with approval of the authorities and after providing a $65,000 bond. Refaeli has long been in dispute with Israeli authorities over her tax resident status, as they claim that she is hiding the fact that she is an Israeli resident by living in an apartment rented by her family. Her lawyers denied the allegations, however, with Giora Aderet telling the NRG news website: “There is no drama. In the end, this is just a civil dispute. No-one cheated anyone else. It will all clear up soon.” The 30-year old is one of the world’s most famous supermodels, and has an estimated net worth of $20 million.
