Margaret Cho joins “Fashion Police,” launches weed-centric Amazon dramedy

By WITW Staff on December 18, 2015

Congrats are in order for comedy’s hard working fave, Margaret Cho! The actress and comedian announced this week that she will join E!’s Fashion Police as a special co-host throughout 2016, alongside hosts Melissa Rivers, Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski. In the past, she’s served as a celebrity guest host. “It makes me happiest to spend time with Melissa, and when I see her laugh at my joke, I feel like Joan [Rivers] is smiling, somewhere,” Cho said in a press release. Former host Joan Rivers died in 2014.

Also announced this week was Amazon’s new marijuana-themed dramedy starring Cho. Highline will follow her character after court-ordered rehab allows her to move back home — where her dysfunctional family runs a weed dispensary.

In September, during an interview to promote the release of her Showtime stand-up special, Margaret Cho: psyCHO, the comedian told Billboard that she was sexually molested from age five to 12 by a family member. On November 13, Cho released a music video and song, “(I Want to) Kill My Rapist,” following a Twitter campaign — #12DaysofRage — in which she shared videos describing assaults that had happened to her and invited her followers to do the same.
