Nude yoga girl says “the way you look doesn’t matter”

Nude yoga girl burst on to the Instagram scene a month ago with her legs crossed in lotus pose, hands joined in prayer covering her face, and a caption reading, “The journey begins.❤” The 25-year old model and photographer behind the account regularly posts photos of herself in advanced yoga poses, dramatically lit and shot in black and white, resulting in tasteful images that are totally safe for work. (To abide by Instagram’s rules, she uses Photoshop to remove nipples when necessary.) Nude Yoga Girl chooses to remain anonymous, but shared with the Cut over email that the account lets her join her dual loves of yoga and photography in a “pure way.” Nude Yoga Girl sets up and lights her own shoots in a private studio, and her boyfriend is the one with his finger on the shutter button when she’s ready in a pose.

“My biggest issue in the past was that I saw faults in my body all the time, and that made it impossible for me to love myself fully,” Nude Yoga Girl told the Cut. “The way you look doesn’t matter — anybody can see faults and have that feeling of not liking themselves. With my account I want to inspire people to realize that everybody is very beautiful and capable of [doing] amazing things with their bodies.”

She says yoga helped her accept her body the way it was and noted, “nowadays people can easily get a very false idea of ideal beauty and what nudity truly means because it’s shown mostly in a sexual and unrealistic way.”
