Carrie Fisher — the original Princess Leia — revealed in an interview with Good Housekeeping that she was pressured to lose more than 35 pounds for her role in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens film. “They don’t want to hire all of me — only about three-quarters!” Fisher told the magazine. “Nothing changes, it’s an appearance-driven thing. I’m in a business where the only thing that matters is weight and appearance. That is so messed up. They might as well say get younger, because that’s how easy it is.”

Fisher had recently addressed the pressure of beauty expectations in Hollywood, in a conversation with her co-star Daisy Ridley, who is younger and new to the franchise: “You should fight for your outfit,” she told her in their discussion for Interview Magazine. “Don’t be a slave like I was… I am not a sex symbol, so that’s an opinion of someone. I don’t share that.”
