Oh, and they had a baby girl!

In a lengthy letter posted on Facebook, the social media giant’s CEO announced that he and Priscilla Chan have welcomed a baby girl, Max, into the world. In addition, Zuckerberg heralded the formation of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, an organization that will be aimed at “curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities.” He and Chan pledged to give away almost all of their substantial fortune over the years. “We will give 99% of our Facebook shares — currently about $45 billion — during our lives to advance this mission. We know this is a small contribution compared to all the resources and talents of those already working on these issues. But we want to do what we can, working alongside many others.” Zuckerberg has said he plans to take two months of paternity leave, and on Monday, Facebook announced it was expanding its four months of “paid baby leave” to all employees outside of the U.S., regardless of gender. Now that is what’s called a status update!
