Albina Foisy, a 101-year-old woman from Lillooet in British Columbia, became a viral superstar after her son Armand filmed a heartwarming video of her joyfully playing in the snow. “It was one of those innocent moments that come around fairly often with my mother,” said Armand. Armand recorded his mother on his iPhone to send to his own son in Australia, but after uploading the video the hearts of viewers around the world were melted.
The mother and son had decided to take a drive since it was a rainy day but when it began snowing, a rare occurrence in their area, Armand stopped the car and Albina stepped out. She enjoys the feel of the snow before rolling up a snowball, enthusiastically murmuring, “Oh my, oh my, oh my,” as she does so.
“She always uses the same phrase, ‘Oh my, oh my,’ when she is extremely excited about something,” says Armand. When asked why the video of her became so popular, he says: “It is sheer delight, and she can express it genuinely. People around her feel that.”
The video has been viewed more than 5 million times.
