Here’s another reason to be a fan of Williams-Sonoma: The company ranks first among all large businesses based in California in the percentage of women holding top jobs. The annual Study of California Women Business Leaders from U.C. Davis found that 57.1 percent of the top jobs at Williams-Sonoma are held by women. That figure, by far, is the highest percentage reported by any company in the 11 years that the university has been conducting the study, Fortune reports. “Female leadership” is defined by the group as the amount of women each company has on its corporate board and among its five highest-paid executives. Some 400 of the state’s biggest businesses, by market cap, are analyzed in the study. The study lists the top 16 companies with women in leadership roles — all of which have more than 30 percent of top jobs occupied by women.
