Caitlyn Jenner criticized by Rose McGowan over “toughest part of being a woman”

By WITW Staff on November 18, 2015

Caitlyn Jenner was the subject of a searing Facebook post on Monday, reportedly written by the actress Rose McGowan, over Jenner’s comments last week that the hardest part of being a woman is “figuring out what to wear.” On Monday, a post appearing on a Facebook page purportedly belonging to McGowan appeared with a strongly-worded criticism of Jenner and a slew of graphic memes depicting women being raped, injured, and giving birth with Jenner’s words stamped over them.

“You want to be a woman and stand with us — well learn us,” the post read. “We are more than deciding what to wear. We are more than the stereotypes foisted upon us by people like you.”

Jenner made the comments after receiving Glamour Magazine’s Woman of the Year award along with other honorees Reese Witherspoon, Misty Copeland, and Victoria Beckham. “Being a woman comes with a lot of baggage,” the McGowan post continued. “ The weight of unequal history. You’d do well to learn it. You’d do well to wake up. Woman of the year? Not by a long f**king shot.”

The original post was made Monday morning, and followed up by a second on Tuesday afternoon. The Facebook page is not verified as belonging to the actress, though a verified Twitter account quoted the second post.
