Following the widely covered 2012 “Nirbhaya” gang rape in Delhi, BBC editor Fiona Crack and other journalists created the BBC’s 100 Women program, a two-week series profiling the accomplishments of women across the world. This year’s list has just been announced, and the BBC website features profiles of all 100 candidates, from British boxer Nicola Adams to actress Hilary Swank, model Alek Wek and acid attack survivor Masoumeh Ataei. Some of the names will be familiar, but many of these worthy women will have escaped common notice from the public and attention from media. The BBC series will run on television, online, and radio beginning November 18th.
