Nintendo has announced new titles and features slated to be released in the coming months, among them a new gender-bent edition of the classic Legend of Zelda series. Hyrule Warriors, released in 2014 for Wii U, is being remastered for the 3DS as Hyrule Warriors Legends (for release on March 25, 2016) and will feature Linkle — a female version of Link — as a playable character. Some fans of the series may resist Linkle’s introduction but the move is a victory for female RPG lovers who are rarely given the opportunity to control female characters. Also announced was a remastering of Wii and Gamecube game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii U on March 4, and the addition of a new character to Nintendo landmark Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS: Cloud Strife, the angsty star of Final Fantasy VII.
